To submit fabric patterns to Fabric Posh all patterns should be your own original work.

Some tips on submitting designs to our site:

24 bit printers can print over 16,000,000 colors. If your pattern looks like the colors are limited, they are.

We also only accept patterns at 300 or 600 DPI, and even up to 1,000. You can choose the DPI on Photoshop, but do it at the beginning, not try and change it later.

When you use Photoshop to create patterns you'll create tiles. Your goal is to have that tile not obvious. We do have some patterns on http://fabricposh.myshopify.com where you can see the tiling. Those will be replaced soon. It was Meg learning fabric design!! Your tile will be 5" across by 4" vertical. Make your pattern 1500 x 1200. We make ours 1600 x 1200 currently.

If you are doing patterns strictly with Photoshop make your pattern 5 times as large. Yes these huge png files will fill your computer rapidly, but you can save them on cd. It has happened that patterns were not saved on cd at the quality in the beginning, so I save mine also on my hosting and gmail, as well as cd.

To make your original artwork into fabric patterns is simple, scan it, open in Photoshop and try some filtering. You might find something you like that way. Also, you can save a tiny portion of your artwork as a pattern, then tile it.

Save your pattern in LAB TIFF, Cie Lab.

If you can create patterns that are seamless you will be accepted on our site. Soon all the patterns we have will be seamless. If your doing fabric patterns with original artwork make your square, and place design elements that will be halfway on one edge and the same on the other side. Joann has a great tutorial on Photoshop for creating that and I'll find that and place it here asap.
